Dura Beds History

On 4th March 1998 two close friends obtained the key to their rented premises of 12,000 square foot in Liversedge, West Yorkshire.

Approximately six weeks later Dura Beds was formed and worked commenced manufacturing mattresses by the new owners and one other operative who is still involved in the company to the present day.

Background

Steadfastly they built their business on the foundations of hard work, responding to customers’ needs, investing in new machinery, increasing their product portfolio & providing great customer service until after just two years the premises became too small.

In 2001 Dura Beds purchased and moved into their new location, of over 50,000 square foot in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire.

To assist the company in further expansion the partners heavily invested in recruiting some of the industry’s best professionals in the key areas of Sales, Marketing and Production.

By 2006 they had again increased their turnover, now employing around 60 people.

In December 2007 having outgrown yet another premises, Dura Beds moved to its present location, a factory comprising over 125,000 square foot on Grange Road, Batley.

Today the business employs over 165 people and produces over 1,000 products per day.

Looking to the future, the company acquired a purpose built mattress manufacturing plant, on a nearby site, formerly owned by the Silentnight Group.

Dura Beds will move to their new site which is over 210,000 square foot in size in due course, but until then, work is ongoing to increase the size of their current site by an additional 10,000 square feet with the development of a purpose built showroom and office space.

The business ethos continues to flourish by offering well made, commercial products at competitive prices making Dura Beds one of the fastest growing bed businesses in the UK.

In 2017, The Yorkshire Post in conjunction with law firm Ward Hadaway Solicitors, recognised Dura Beds as one of Yorkshire’s fastest 50 growing companies over the last three years out of over 400,000 registered companies in the County.

As over 80% of the UK mattresses are manufactured in Yorkshire, to be presented with an award as the fastest growing Beds manufacturer in the region is a great accolade, to the business, its people, its products – and of course, our retail customers.

Today, we continue to grow . . .
